Fluorescent Bulbs--good outweighs bad???

You know how I feel about mercury and other heavy metals. The so-called "small" amounts sure sdo add up when it's come at'cha from your air, water, fish, candlewicks, lipsticks, and lunchboxes!

From the Evangelical Ecologist:

"Low-wattage fluorescent bulbs are being pushed heavily now that their prices have come down. However, there is a catch: They contain small amounts of mercury."

Read on here.

I know. We bought one of these bulbs and felt horrible when we realized that there was mercury in it. We will never purchase them again but compared to Al Gore, my husband and I use very little electricity. We live in a tiny two bedroom so I think we are doing okay!

Thanks for the comment! Yes, the irony is that these eco celebrities have sasquatch-size carbon footprints! The private plane, etc.

Stay tuned...found an eco bulb w/o mercury. Keep up the good work!

It's always a challenge. Sometimes we think we've found a good green product then somehow there's a catch somewhere. Oh well. More diligence is needed!

It is true that we should save the Earth, but as God's children we should focus on converting humans other than saving the Earth. Yes, it's good, but it shouldn't be our main priority. Converts are more inportant than the Earth besides we will be in heaven and not on earth for most of our lives
